Homeschool Helps: Equivalent Fractions FREEBIE

I know it has been a while since I have posted. Life is crazy, as usual. We are back to homeschooling two of our children this year. Because of their learning differences, I have been creating more tools to help them. Our daughter really struggles with math so I have been making a lot of graphic organizer tools for her.

Today while teaching our 5th grader how to make equivalent fractions, we began by using fraction tiles. This is really helpful for her to be able to "see" math. I try to use math manipulatives as much as possible, especially when introducing a new concept.

Then we transitioned to the white board. I was writing each problem down, and describing the process while we solved each problem. (Repetition, repetition, repetition). I like the visual of the large "1" and writing the fraction inside it, but I became tired of drawing it over and over. So I came up with the idea of creating this graphic organizer. We slipped it inside a page protector and used a dry erase marker to write directly on it. It worked fabulously!!! She was able to make equivalent fractions on her own in no time at all.

I know I might be a little crazy, but when I find something that helps, I want to share it with everyone! If you think this might be a useful tool for your student(s), please feel free to download below. I would love to hear your feedback as well. Please feel free to leave a comment.
